Miles Macadam has released a detailed scheme summary showcasing the recent resurfacing of Lanner Hill in Cornwall. The project saw 12,200m² of Milepave™ PMB Asphaltic Grouted Macadam laid under a full road closure over six nights in March 2025, transforming a challenging and highly trafficked route.

The site presented several challenges: exceptionally high traffic volumes, numerous junctions accommodating vehicles turning and merging from multiple directions, and its location on a hill known for wet conditions. Prior to resurfacing, the road surface exhibited severe signs of failure, including cracking, potholing, and general deterioration.

The use of Milepave™ PMB delivered significant benefits. Its 14mm matrix provided enhanced aggregate interlock and strength, while the PMB binder reduced temperature susceptibility and increased tensile strength. Sealing the surface with liquid asphalt grout eliminated weak points in the joints, reinforced surface strength, and reduced stone loss. Importantly, the material also reduced carbon emissions by 40% compared to a conventional hot mix PMB asphalt.
