Miles Macadam has partnered with Stockport Council to deliver an innovative, carbon-neutral road resurfacing scheme. This project, certified by Carbon Footprint Ltd, supports the council’s ambitious carbon targets by utilising our advanced low-carbon surfacing technology. As part of our sustainability commitment, we also completed a tree planting scheme in the borough, symbolising the success of the project and the ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development in the community. Procured through LCRIG’s Project Amber Framework, this initiative highlights the power of sustainable infrastructure solutions.

For the heavily tree-lined Robins Lane, the council chose our Milepave™ solution. This fully sealed surface prevents water penetration, reduces organic build-up, and enhances safety by minimising slippery conditions.

The scheme delivered major environmental benefits, including:

• 1,878m² of Milepave™ installed

• 27.2 tonnes less aggregate used

• 3.5 tonnes less bitumen consumed

• 5.40 tCO₂e savings over traditional materials

An article on Stockport Council’s website stated that Cllr Grace Baynham, Cabinet Member for Highways, Parks, and Leisure Services, said: “Stockport Council is committed to making our roads safer and more sustainable. By using innovative, low-carbon materials like Milepave™, we are reducing our environmental impact while delivering high-quality infrastructure for our residents. Under our Climate Action Now plan, we’ll continue to reduce the council’s carbon footprint, achieving net zero by 2030 for council operations. This scheme further demonstrates our dedication to achieving our ambitious climate goals.”

We are thrilled to have partnered with Stockport Council on this ground-breaking initiative and look forward to continuing our support as they utilise our reduced-carbon materials in future projects.
